The Open Sea and Stamping & Blogging

Hi Everyone,
Back for another fun filled day of Stamping and Blogging. Sandi had an interesting sketch for us today. I hope you like it.

ship card

and here is the sketchsb76

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with this sketch….seemed foreign to me. That’s why I love sketch challenges…you never know what’s going to pop up or speak to you. As I was looking at my stamp Library this set just about jumped out at me. I haven’t had this set out in ages but could see it in this sketch.
The base of the card is done in Night of Navy cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half
The next layer is our Gold Foil Paper cut to 3 7.8 x 5 1/8. The Vanilla Mat that tops it is cut to 3 3/4 x 5 and stamped randomly with the ledger stamp in the set in Crumb Cake. I then sponged the edges with Soft Suede. Pretty effect I think.
The next mat is the Navy Circle and then the stamped boat onto Very Vanilla with Night of Navy Ink. I did sponge the edges when I was done cutting the Vanilla Circle out with my Circle Framelits. I popped the image up on dimensionals and then ran a rim of Tombo Multi Glue around it and laid the gold and cream Bakers Twine down. I’m likin’ it!! Are you? I stamped the compass in Navy but then decided the center of it needed to be embossed in gold and cut out and popped up atop the navy one.
Of course I had to have a gold anchor now…don’t you think? Added a little of the twine and knotted it and frayed it to complete the look. The sentiment was done with “And Many More” Stamp set. What a lovely variety of sayings….I did wrap a bit of twine around that too. I hope you like it.
Here are the supplies I used for my card…..and this months Hostess Code XKTWZ2KF

Oh wow Lee. This totally blows my mind. Such amazing detail which adds a real wow to your card. My favourite touch is how you have used the twine around the circle. So clever!

Fabulous - the colors, the bling and the choices you made for layering!!! The gold twine around the 'porthole' is amazing - as well as on the anchor!
