Asian Artistry

Good Morning Everyone! Well to another Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411.

This week the sketch is a bit different, I hope you will play along.

Here is the sketch:

ssc143

…and my interpretation.

asian artistry 411 sketch 143 002

Actually I got a lovely card from my friend Rose Ann for my Birthday that inspired me for this. She used the same set and the bird was so-o-o-o cool I had to try it myself. Rose Ann’s was  more of a teal, so I decided I couldn’t case her entirely so I’d do red, after all it does give it an Asian flair.

So I inked up my image with two markers…..One red and one Always Artichoke. Did the Bird in Red and the leave in Artichoke. Huffed on it to reactivate the ink and stamped it on Watercolor Paper. then I blended the color with my Aqua Painter.

I had a scrap of Watercolor Paper left so took the symbol stamp and stamped it to create the Vertical strip on the card…then adhered some ribbon to next to it. I used 1/4” black grosgrain but used two strips of it. The bow is actually done in Black Satin as I had it sitting on my desk and it was done…it compliments it well. I then stamped the dragonfly in Versamark on the left open side of the card just to give it dimension and a bit of texture.

The dimensions for the card are:

Red base 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”….Black Mat 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 and the watercolor paper is 2 x 3 1/8…the scrap was pieced together under the image as it wasn’t long enough. So don’t throw those away!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you all participate in the challenge this week..…..and as always…..

Have a Stampinglee Good Day!

I like how you colored the bird ... it's neat to see how much variation you're able to accomplish with a single color. Very artistic!
