Stamping411 Sketch 223~ Welcome Christmas

It took a lot for me to cut this gorgeous Designer Paper….oh be still my heart!!! Phew…I did it.

This is one of those sketches that I knew right away what I wanted and when I went into my stash of DSP saw the corner of this and went “Oh Yes” the time has come to cut you!! hehe…(do you hoard DSP too)? Well enough of my little secret of being a paper hoarder!!

Here is the sketch…..

ssc223

…and my interpretation…..christina's card sketch 223 card and sharon searcy card 012

The Card Base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2

The DSP is Morning Mocha Specialty Paper and is cut to 4 x 5 1/4. The Ribbon is Black Satin and tied in a double bow and taped to the back of the DSP then attached to the Black Card Base. The Image piece is an oval cut on the Ovals Die. The image is stamped with Versamark and and sprinkled with Black Embossing Powder…and heat set with my Heat Tool. I then popped the image piece up with dimensionals.

As you can see I didn’t want to waste the tiny strip of DSP I had left over so the inside of the card got a strip of it too just to finish it off…that is mounted onto Very Vanilla so I can stamp the inside with a sentiment later.

I hope you enjoyed my share today. Please pop on over to the Stampin 411 Blog and see what the other Operators are up to.

What an Honor~ “Pay it Forward” Outstanding New Member of the Year 2010-2011

No card today…I have something personal I want to share with you. If you are a frequent reader you know I do a lot of Charity Events for organizations in my area. I was the recipient of this award last week and a medal to honor my service. I was and still am overwhelmed that this was presented to me.

FL District Leesburg Southpoint 039

About a year and a half ago one of my customers asked me to join a new Civitan group in my area. I told her I didn’t have time. Her remark to me was “do you eat lunch” it’s a lunch meeting. What could I say? So long story short, I went and sat in a room or very professional people. Restaurant owners, Professors, Store owners, Bankers, Teachers etc. Then there was me a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. Funny huh? Well not really. Little did I know that by joining the Arlington Civitan I would have more opportunity to hear of what was going on in my community. Not only that…I could help my community! Now you might say how do you do that? Well with Stamping Events of course!!! I gathered some of my team and asked if they would help me. Well they did and our first event was a smashing hit. So we did it again and again and again…..

We gather raffle prizes from Local Merchants and sell tickets for the products and services and 100% of that money goes to The Charity we are working for. We get Civtian sponsorship and helping hands too.

We have built a Stamping Corner at the Pace Center for Girls (these are girls that are at risk). We have fed the hungry twice now and have raised enough to feed over 12,000 people. Plus part of the admission is always two cans of food so we keep a steady stream of canned good and dry goods (over 13,000 pounds)  going to the Second Harvest Food Bank. We’ve helped in research for Autism and most recently helped Lea’s place with a donation. Lea’s place is a place that takes in children that are removed from they’re homes either for abuse of for neglect. They are kept at Leas’ Place where they are cleaned up and fed and loved. The staff is incredible! It was such a pleasure to work with them.

So why am I getting this award??? Not sure…..but it is an honor.

I did not go to the convention so Mattie presented me the award and medal of honor (around my neck) at our meeting. She accepted it for me at the convention. Anyway I had no idea. I guess I was chosen by the Governor of Civitan for the Florida District.

My award is for “Paying it Forward” and for being 2010-2011 Florida District Outstanding New Member of the Year!!! What an honor and a privilege to receive this.

I thought I was just going to lunch that January day when I joined Civitan. Now it’s become a way of life.

Thanks for allowing me to share this honor with you.

See you next time……

Snow Swirled~Design for Perrie

I had a delightful person named Perrie email me and take me up on my offer to help create or design a Christmas Card for her. We chatted and she told me she wanted to use Snow Swirled. So I said I would try and help and here is what I came up with…

Snow Swirled For Perrie 003

So I emailed her a picture of it and she love it. In fact here is what she said: “OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!  That is EXACTLY what I had in mind!!!!  I totally am swooning head over heels with it!!!!!  I love the hand written sentiment.  So...to get the ball rolling on supplies....”

So I guess she like it. I was thrilled to help a new long distance friend who happens to like my style of card making. It was fun working this up for Perrie….we got to meet on the phone today and she is just a delight.

That’s one of the best parts of this business….the friends you make all over it’s fabulous!

Perrie your card is in the mail to you and you should have it in a few days.

So if you would like me to design your card….like I did for Perrie….just give me a shout. You can reach me by hitting the contact me button at the top of my blog. I’d love to help design your Christmas Card too!

Have a great day!!!

Stamping 411 Sketch 222~Bells and Boughs

Hi Everyone,

Can someone please tell me where these weeks are going? Holy Moly…they are just flying by. I feel like I need 36 hours in a day to do what I’d like to do.

Time for another sketch challenge from the Stamping 411 Team…I hope you’ll pop on over there to see what the other Operators are up to.

Here is the sketch:

ssc222

….and my interpretation using the Bells and Boughs Set.

 skethces 221-222 004

I just had to use Shimmery White Card Stock for this card. It just screamed for it. I wanted to add the Silver Shimmer Paper for the edge so wanted the whole thing to be sparkly…’tis the Season for Sparkly, right?

The base of the card is cut to 5 1/4 x 10 1/2 and folded in half. The next layer is actually the next Shimmer White mat that is cut to 4 7/8 x 4 7/8. It is scored using the Simply Scored Tool from Stampin’ Up! at 1/2 inch all the way around. I added a Rhinestone gem to the cross section of each corner. I cheated here a little as I cut thin strips of the Silver Shimmer Paper and glued to the back of the scored mat. No sense in using a whole big piece of it when you can piece it right?

My next mat is of Cherry Cobbler and measures 3 3/8x 3 3/8 and the image mat, again in Shimmery White is cut to 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 and stamped in Versamark….and sprinkled with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set. Lovely on it’s own….I wanted a slight pop of color so brought out my Sherry Cobble and Old Olive Markers and colored in. My final touch was a double bow done with the fabulous Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding. Hope you like it.

Make sure to visit the Stamping 411 Blog and play along or just go on over and say hello and see what’s happening. Have a great weekend!!!

Now onto my card share and Tutorial for today…..

It’s time to get stamping again. Here is a cute card I did with the “Greeting Card Kids” Set from Stampin’ Up!

Kids visit and checkered background 109

I love Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke on Very Vanilla….kind of gives this card a Nostalgic look…don’t you think?

Here is a little Tutorial for you! I hope you enjoy it.

Checkered Background Technique

This is a fun and easy Technique that you can do with the Stripes Embossing Folder. I hope you will give it a try…it’s easy…fun….and oh so cute!!!

First you need to take a piece of Card stock cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

                         clip_image002

Next collect two of your colored pads that you will use,  a brayer, the Stripped Embossing Folder #123128 and your Big Shot.

                        clip_image003

Load your Brayer #102395 with one of the colors of ink and brayer onto the inside top portion (lettering on top) of your Embossing Folder. Then lay your cut piece of card stock in and crank it through your Big Shot. This is what you will end up with.

clip_image004clip_image005

Next rinse your Embossing Folder and your Brayer under water to clean and get ready for your next color. Make sure to wipe dry with Paper Towels.

clip_image006clip_image007

Brayer on the Second Color onto the cleaned Stripped Embossing Folder.

clip_image008 clip_image009

Lay your stripped piece across the stripes this time and run through the Big Shot again……see what you get???

clip_image010 clip_image011

Here are the elements I’ve used for my card…..Greeting Card Kids Stamp Set (w) #119887-$20.95 (c) #120633- $15.95. Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding #120992-$6.95.  Cherry Cobbler Card Stock #119685-$6.95 cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and then I trimmed the piece of checkered to 3 7/8 x 4 1/4. I used the Lace Ribbon Border Punch #122362-$19.95 to add a little border at the bottom just to introduce a bit of Always Artichoke #105119-#6.95 into the mix. I stamped the image with Black Stazon #101406-$7.95 and colored with my Aqua Painter #103954- $16.95 and Rich Regals Watercolor Crayons #119803-$16.95.

clip_image012clip_image013

I tucked the Triple Bow behind the checkered piece and secured with adhesive, and attached all to the front of the card base. I did pop up the oval image piece with Dimensionals. I had a little piece left over so included it at the bottom inside to finish it off.

                              clip_image014

Oh and I didn’t use the button….just didn’t think it needed it. Hope you enjoyed this fun and easy tutorial and will give it a try.

The Triple Bow was made using my Magic Bow Maker that my husband makes and sells. You can click here if you would like to order one.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial…

Stamping 411 Sketch 221

Hi Everyone,

It’s time for another Sketch Challenge from stamping 411. I hope you will take a bit of time and join in the fun. We’d love to see what you come up with.

Here is this weeks sketch 221

ssc221

…and my interpretation.

skethces 221-222 001

This week I’m showcasing the Gently Falling Tow Step Stampin’ Set from Stampin’ Up!.

It’ really fun and so easy to use. I did the Baby Wipe Technique on this one to get some different shades that matched the gorgeous Spice Cake Designer Series Paper that goes along so well with it.

My Card Base is Early Espresso cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. The next layer is More Mustard (who knew it could be so pretty) cut to 4 x 5 1/4. Then a Vanilla Image piece cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8 and stamped randomly with different leaf outline images in Early Espresso. I then took a baby wipe and added some drops of re-inkers in Soft Suede, More Mustard and Pool Party. Then stamped the 2 step fill in part of the stamps onto the baby wipe to pick up the inside color of the leaves and stamped.

I then cut a piece of the DSP to 1 1/4 x 12 and pleated every 1/2 inch on my new Simply Scored and pleated my DSP and taped on. Final touches are a double bow done with my lace ribbon and one of the new HUGE Buttons for a striking touch. The Designer Buttons match this DSP perfectly and come in Spice Cake.  I chose to use the mustard one to make it pop! Did you know that the 1 1/4 circle punch fits exactly into the center of the button? It makes a nice landing place for a cute little image. I attached that with glue dots to secure.

Thanks for stopping in….hope you enjoyed my share and look forward to seeing you next time.

Gently Falling Club Card~Faux Tapestry?

Hi Everyone,

Here is the second card I will be doing at one of my clubs this month. I think it almost looks like Tapestry…don’t you? I just love the look and feel of this. Not usually my style but it felt rich and warm and colorful.

Gently Falling Leaf Card 002

I had a lot of fun doing this one and experimenting with color. I used Early Espresso for the Card Base….then Cajun Craze and Vanilla. the Vanilla piece was stamped with line leaves from the Gently Falling Set. I stamped them randomly in Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive and Soft Suede. I then ran it through my Big Shot and with my favorite embossing folder in the world…..Vintage Wallpaper. Once that was done I sponged Soft Suede all over it.  Almost forgot I used the little words from French Foliage too.

About the ribbon…I used my Cajun Craze Marker and inked up some Very Vanilla Seam Binding. Oh my gosh….it’s gorgeous and looks like very old silk ribbon…..gorgeous!!! The single leaf is stamped in Soft Suede and water colored with like colors. I then added a bit of shimmer paint for good measure.

So what do you think? Think my special club girls will like this beauty?

Double Embossing~Natures Nest

One of my customers wants to do a workshop and she always wants to do a Masculine Card. Her friend wants to learn the Double Embossed Technique….so this is what I’ve come up with. Think they will both like it???

swap-barb-sharon'c cards 008 I did a little paper piecing with Basic Black, River Rock and some Lucky Limeade. I them inked up my Hounds tooth Embossing folder with Versamark and ran my three colors through. They I added some Black Embossing Powder to the embossed Piece and Heat set. The black Embossing Powder went into the grooves of the Hounds tooth. The Turtle was embossed as well and then colored with two markers. Old Olive and Cajun Craze. Just to give it a bit of color.

It’s a little damp here in Florida today…not sure if that’s why some of the Embossing Powder stuck to places it shouldn’t  but decided I liked it a bit. Hope you do too.

Thanks for stopping!! Wish me luck on my workshop!!

Stamping 411 Sketch 220 ~Pines and Poinsettias

Hi Everyone,

Boy are you going to have fun doing this weeks Sketch Challenge #220. I found it easy and fun and quickly put together. Hope you do too.

Here is the sketch:

ssc_220

…and my card:

Sketch 200 and stocking card 004

Isn’t this pretty and clean and crisp? As you know it’s my favorite kind of card…so this one was easy peasy for me.

It features the Pines and Poinsettias Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!….go this one FREE….love that.

I inked the pine cones with my Soft Suede marker and then did the leaves and vines in Always Artichoke Marker….finishing it off with the Cherry Cobbler Marker for the Holly Berries. You then huff on it….(heavy breathing) to re-moisten the ink and stamp. Like I said ….easy-peasy. I then punched it out with the 1 3/4” Circle punch and mounted that on a circle from the Circles Die. I mounted that on a rectangle of Whisper White measuring 2 3/8 x 3 3/8 and that is framed with Cherry Cobbler that is cut to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.

I then ran a piece of Whisper White and ran it through the Big Shot using the new Stripe Embossing Folder. Love that thing it embosses beautifully and you can do so much with it. I added a 2x4 Piece of Frostwood Lodge DSP and used some of the new Quilted Satin Ribbon in Cherry Cobbler…so yummy! I added some pearls to finish off the sketch and voila’ Instant Card. I hope you like it.

Make sure to visit the Stampin 411 blog and if you can play along. It’s so much fun and there is so much to see.

Bright and Cheerful Stitched Stocking

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday weekend. It was a beautiful weekend here in Jacksonville, Florida. It was fun just hanging out by the pool and getting some much needed relaxation in.

I needed a bright and cheerful Christmas Card for my Club tonight and here is what I came up with for my Tappin’ Tuesday Group. I hope they like it. They love seeing new product and trying new things so I thought this might just fit the bill.

Sketch 200 and stocking card 002

Lot’s of new things going on here. Let’s start with the checkered mat….It’s actually the new Stripes Embossing Folder #123128 - $7.95 and is done in two colors, Real Red and Lucky Limeade. The Border is the new GORGEOUS Lace Ribbon Border punch done in Whisper White to mimic the Lace Doily Circle # 122362 -$19.95. Speaking of which…..the lace doily comes in sheets in the Flirtatious Specialty Pack #122360-$12.95 (you get two sheets of doily’s that can be cut apart). The Red Circle is done on the Big Shot with the Circles 2 Die #114526 - $15.95. the darling stocking is stamped in Lucky Limeade on Whisper White and Punched with the Stocking Builder Punch #124095 - $16.95. The Stamp Set is called Stitched Stocking #123784 -$19.95 (for the clear mount) and has five different stockings in it. It’s totally adorable! The Glitter cuff and toe and heel were punched from our new Glimmer Paper…love this stuff, it’s so sparkly! It’s #124005 – $4.95 for two big sheets that are 12x12. It only takes a little bit to make this card pop!!

Of course I had to add a big red bow to the mix and tie it on my Magic Bow Maker to make my Double Bow! The Magic Bow Maker is available on the Right Side Bar for Purchase.

image

If you need any of the supplies listed above you can order them at my online store and have them delivered right to you door. How awesome is that? I always love shopping in my jammies….don't you?

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope to see you back soon.

Stamping 411 Sketch 219~A Little bit of This and a Little Bit of That!

Hi Everyone,

I did this card late last night and was really tired but wanted to do this while it was in my head. You know when you get a bit older…..you’ve got to do and say things when you are in the moment! Ha!!!

It’s time for the Stamping 411 Challenge and this card was just floating around in my head after I saw this sketch. So here it is…..

The sketch:ssc_219

…..and the little card in my head….hehe

So for those of you that know me you know I’m a monochromatic-matchy-matchy girl, right? So where did this come from? A little bit of Lace (in vanilla) and white cardstock….oh my gosh…..never in my wildest dreams!!! DSP more of a rust of Cajun Craze where the pumpkin is done with yellows and oranges. No purple on the card but had to have it.

sketch 219 and jar 005

I brought the Spider web stamp in and really struggle as to what color to stamp it on….the old olive was sitting on my desk tempting me. Why not!!! the buttons were actually old white buttons I had from a million years ago and I colored them with a black sharpie and added the rhinestones. So what do you think. Not my normal style of matchy-matchy but I think this little card is cute…..

Thanks for stopping in and hope  you play along with us this week.
